I made an April's Fool's dinner for the girls, Chris and Chris's sister Jenny. (She comes over on Thursday nights to watch Grey's with me!!!)

We had grilled cheese and cupcakes but they were actually something different. The grilled cheese was toasted pound cake with orange tinted frosting and the cupcakes were meatloaf with pink tinted mashed potatoes!!! :)

Courtney's soccer coach is named Dan, just like her Grandpa Dan! She was so excited that she knows two Dans. She loved her uniform and her new team is called the "Snowballers." It was almost the "Butterflies." She did get the ball once and almost scored a point for the other team! After the game she said "Mommy, I tried to score a goal but they wouldn't let me!" They are so cute at this age!

We found out Kylee LOVED the pool just like her big sister! (She did like to eat the sand at the beach as well but didn't have the camera with us.) Chris and Cassie attended a session in the San Diego Temple. (BEAUTIFUL Temple!!!) Another San Diego Vacation highlight: Courtney & Chris rode an elephant at the San Diego County Fair.

Fourth of July

We had a great time in Dana Point, CA with the Peterson's for the fourth of July. Although Cassie was a little homesick for Kanab's 4th of July celebration it was still fun to be with family and celebrate our nation's Independance Day!

I have so many other pictures to post from our vacation in San Deigo and Courtney's soccer camp but I wanted to get these ones up first. Courtney was the flowergirl at my cousin's wedding last weekend. She did a GREAT job! I, on the other hand, was helping out being the "wedding coordinator" and started bawling after sending Courtney & the ring bearer down the aisle. It was not even Courtney's wedding! They grow up so fast, I think I even cried at her recital, which reminds me, I need to post those pictures too!

We started Memorial Day out at the cemetery where some Fairbourn family is buried. Then we went to Grandma and Grandpa Fairbourn's to hang out and have a BBQ. Chris and Cassie ended the day with a No Doubt Concert with Chris's two sisters Rozanne and Jenny. Fun times!

Chris surprised me with an overnight trip to downtown Salt Lake City on our 5th Anniversary last Friday. Chris's parents babysat the girls and we headed downtown. At our first stop, we tried to win "Wicked" tickets at the Capitol Theatre. (They give away 20 tickets to 10 lucky people before every show thru a drawing. Only $25 a piece for front row seats!) We didn't win.

We then went to The Roof restaurant at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. LOVED the view and LOVED the food! I had creme brule (sp?) for the first time in my life. It was wonderful. Then we went and saw "17 again" at the Gateway.

We took the trax train around downtown to all our different stops. It was fun to just sit and talk and not have to drive and find parking ten different times. We stayed at the Marriott next to the Galivan center and then next morning went to the Salt Lake Temple.

After a temple session, we went to lunch at the Sportsbox and bought Courtney a birthday gift both at the Gateway. Fun, fun, fun! But oh how we missed our little girls! When we got home I found two dozen pink roses from Chris! Ahhhh, how romantic! :)

6 Months Old!

Kylee turned six months old on April 19th! She loves to eat baby food & biter biscuts, even though it is not helping her on the growth chart! She is 14 lbs, 3 ounces and 25 inches tall. (25% percent for both weight & height) She has Courtney's dark eyes but other than that they are completely different. Courtney is tall and was very quiet. Kylee is short and very loud! Big things come in small packages!

Courtney tends to get a little too close when playing with her little sister. She accidently scratched Kylee nose the other day! Just a week before I was going to take them to get their pictures taken...doesn't it always happen that way? :) Guess pictures can wait until next week!

Two weeks ago we took the girls to the zoo. (Sorry! I've been busy!) This the is the first year when Courtney knew what was going on and asked for the map. The only thing she wanted to see were the penguins. Then she wanted to see the Zebras. For those of you familar with Madagascar 2 movie, those are the animals in the movie! We didn't get to see Alex the lion and she was disappointed! We had a blast! In fact, we packed a sack lunch and when Courtney started to pull out all the stuff from the lunch she exclaimed "MOM! You are a GENIUS!" I guess she loved her lunch!

We all woke up on Valentine's Day to snow! It was fun exchanging Valentine's Day gifts in bed with our favorite girls! Then Cassie and Courtney were off with Grandma Lorna, Nanny (Cassie's grandma), Sharon (Lorna's cousin) and Sharon's daughter Jordan to try on wedding dresses with Jordan. WOW! She bought a pretty one. But guess who had the best time at the wedding shop....our little princess Courtney! She is WAY to little to be trying on wedding dresses so she just tryed on the "crowns" and veils. Isn't she a doll?

After shopping we all had dinner (including Jordan's future husband Dan) at our house. We had cheese fondue and chocolate covered strawberries!

Cassie's Health Update

I have received quite a few emails asking how I am doing and asking for updates so here it is... after giving birth to Kylee on Sunday I came home on Tuesday. I wasn't feeling well by Thursday and was swelling pretty bad so my mom and dad watched the girls while I went into the hospital per my OB's instructions. It was then I found out I had congestive heart failure (same thing I had with Courtney) and my heart was having a hard time pumping. So I was admitted and the doctors ran some tests. I went from an OB doctor's care to an internal specialist to a cardiologist. Finally the cardiologist told me that my heart was pumping 20% and a normal heart pumped 45% to 60%.

I had a cardio cath (a small camera was placed in a vein in my leg and ran up thru my heart) to see what was causing the problems. It turns out my mitral valve (between the left top and left bottom of my heart) was damaged. When my heart pumps, blood that is suppose to pump out to my body from the bottom left chamber leaks back into the top left chamber. I was put on some lasik pills to get the excess blood/water off my body from being pregnant, and given some heart medications and sent home on Sunday (a week after having Kylee).

A few weeks later, and after some more tests, the doctor concluded that the damage to my valve was a stage 3 (moderate to severe). At stage 4 I would need a valve replacement. I will eventually need a heart valve replacement but will find out in 6 months at my next appointment (after another heart ultrasound) just when it will be done. It could be a year, it could be 5 years. It will be an open heart surgery and I'll get a mechanical valve (and be on blood thinner for the rest of my life) or a pig's valve (tissue valve that has to be replaced in 10 years). Until then I take my blood pressure morning and night. If it is too high I have to call the cardiologist. I also continue taking two different heart medicines to help my heart stay strong.

The cardiologist seems to think that the lining around my heart was damaged when I had radiation to my chest 10 years ago while battling Hodgkin's Disease (lymphmatic cancer) and my heart couldn't expand like a normal pregnant lady's heart does for the extra blood while carrying a baby.

We feel very blessed to have our too little girls, but unfortunately if we would like more kids we will have to adopt or have a serogate mother. We are very blessed that having Kylee didn't end my life and I have been given yet another chance to live. I have a long road ahead of me but I am determined to be here to raise my little girls and take care of my husband. :) He needs me to keep him in line! :)

Christmas Castle

It has become a new family tradition to decorate a gingerbread house every Christmas season and display it on our dining room table. Last year Courtney ate more icing (age 2 1/2) than ended up on the gingerbread house but we thought this year might be different. Well she spotted a Princess Castle Gingerbread house and that was the only one she wanted. So, we had a pink gingerbread house this year and she still eats more frosting and candy then she puts on the house, errr I mean castle!

Okay, Chris went shopping for Cassie at the mall. Well he walked by a Fazz shop and spotted this t-shirt and decided to buy it for himself. He goes to the register just as the announce there is a guest in the house and it was Matt Asiata from the Utes team! Chris was stoked! He asked if Asiata could sign his shirt and he did. SWEET! Courtney has said "Go Utes!" since she could talk! We are definately a Utes household!

P.S. He did manage to buy something for Cassie for Christmas even though he got a little distracted! :)

On December 7th, 2008, Chris blessed Kylee at our church in Draper. Both set of Grandparents were there as well as Chris's sisters Jenny, Rochelle, Caroline and Rozanne with their families. My aunt Haunani and her family also attended along with my brother Jason. Our friends the Garcias also came with thier three beautiful girls! We had so much fun visiting with everyone!

Kylee Rose Fairbourn was born on Sunday, October 19th, 2008 at 5:44pm. She weighed 6 lbs 3 ounces and was 18 1/2 inches long. Her little cry was more like a squeek. She doesn't cry much now except when she is hungry, mostly she makes squeeking noises and when she hiccups it sounds like she is a squeek toy. Too cute. Courtney loves her little sister and it is fun to watch them together. Kylee just stares at her and Courtney kisses her forehead. Here are some pictures of the past 10 days.

Today we woke up to 2 inches of snow and Courtney thought it was Christmas! She couldn't wait to play in it so Chris took her outside to play before breakfast. She loved it and loved making snow angels and seeing her "footprints" in the snow! Too bad it is almost all gone already!

Dance class on Saturday was a HUGE hit! She kept looking over at me thru the window (the parents sit outside the class and watch thru a large window) and she smiled and just beamed. It made me tear up to see her so happy. The other moms commented on how big her smile was and how hard she was trying. After class, when I told her it was time to go, she said "Mommy, we have to go to the next class over there!" and pointed to the studio next door where there were older kids. lol She didn't want to leave! Courtney loves dancing in front of the mirror, tv or us. On the weekends she tells me "I want to wear something to dance in". The dress she has on in these pictures is from her cousin "my friend" Elise. I talked to a co-worker that lives in Draper and she told me about a dance studio she takes her girls for lessons. We signed Courtney up and she starts this Saturday. When we took her to the studio she just stared at the girls in the class and said "Oh Mommy, those girls are dancing!" :) I am so excited for her!

Lately, Courtney's favorite things to do is assemble, disassemble, reassemble puzzles. She LOVES them. And she is so proud that she does them "all by myself". Recently she has been into helping us in the kitchen. She calls it being a "Cooker Maker". She wants to stir but mostly she wants to eat what we are making. We stepped back to take a picture of her making brownies and she starting eating the batter! She is so much fun and such a big helper. I know she'll make an awesome big sister!

Bed Rest

Good morning to all our friends and family! Just an update on Cassie's pregnancy . . . Cassie went into pre-term labor on Friday (09/05/08) at 32 weeks. The labor was stopped with medicine and she got sent home to be on strict bed rest until Tuesday, Sept 10th when she'll see her OB. A test taken at the hospital (FFN) showed that her body is releasing the protiens that tell the body to get ready for labor and she could go into labor within the next 7 to 14 days. Very scary to say the least. She was given two steriod shots (one Friday and one Saturday) to mature the baby's lungs incase she did go into full blown labor. She has had contractions mainly at night but have been prescribed a pill to take at home to help control them. Chris is being an excellent help with Courtney, washing dishes, cooking and doing laundry. It is so hard for Cassie to sit and do nothing but it is very necessary at this point. We'll keep you all updated as the next few weeks unwrap.

New Big Girl Bed

Courtney kept crying in the middle of the night and coming into our bed. We finally figured out that she was too TALL for her toddler bed. We went and bought a twin bunk bed for when the girls are bigger but could use the bottom bunk for Courtney right now. (Chris is always thinking ahead!) She LOVES her new big girl bed. She has not come in our bed since! :) She can sleep on it width wise and not fall out. Most mornings we find her in the top corner snuggled to the wall. :)

Cassie's Cousin Emma was baptised in Mendon, UT the first weekend in August. Courtney was excited to play with the kids but wasn't quite sure why Emma was being "dunked" in the water by her daddy. We tried to explain but she still isn't quite sure. :) We stopped at the Logan Temple on the way home but unfortunately it was closed. :( We took some pictures in front. Courtney kept calling it a "castle" because it doesn't look like the Temples near our house. :)

On the 24th of July, Courtney wanted to play with a doctor's kit at Grandma and Grandpa Fairbourn's house. She tested it out on Papa Fairbourn. :) Mommy and Daddy used to play with this Fisher Price Doctor Kit when they were little!

We spent the 4th of July in Southern Utah with Cassie's parents. Small town parade, dinner and fireworks were great. It was nice to see family and friends from home too.

Happy Mother's Day 2008!

Courtney and I went to the Mother's and Me at the Zoo this year again! It was the Saturday before Mother's Day. Courtney was so excited to wear matching shirts and she loved getting her face painted at the zoo! Last year was our first year (and the event's first year) and now we are hooked!

GIRL!

We found out Friday that our little baby due on Halloween is a GIRL! Courtney is so excited! We cheated and had an ultrasound early so Courtney could be with us. It will be official on June 11th when Chris and I go to the hospital to have the "official" ultrasound.

Chris turned the big 35 on Friday. My parents were in town and took us all to dinner to celebrate. The next day my parents watched Courtney while I took Chris to what he thought was lunch but it was actually a surprise "guy party". I had invited five of his close friends to Mulligan's and drove Chris there blind folded. He tried to guess what road he was on the entire time I was driving. He was VERY surprised. They went and ate lunch at Greko's across the street then hit some balls in the batting cages until the weather turned bad. They decided to go bowling instead. They all had a blast. While Chris was having "guy time", my parents and I took Courtney to Disney's Princess on Ice. Courtney had a blast. She sat there the entire time and watched intently. Then when Cinderella came out she stood up and waved and mimiced every move she made. It was really cute. :)

Typhoon Lagoon Waterpark & Epcot

It was a LONG day today. We first went to the Typhoon Lagoon waterpark for 4 hours. They had a large wave pool, a lazy river and water slides. Chris went down the speed slide first and told me it was no big deal and it was over in a few seconds. I told him there was no way I was going down it, I could hear the screams of the frightened customers. He told me not to be a scared and try it. So I did. Chris said he could tell it was me when I went down because he could hear my scream! It was fun but I wouldn't do it again! Chris said he was proud of me for giving it a try. We felt like teenagers going down all the slides!

After the waterpark we went to Epcot. We were so sore and tired we couldn't see straight. :) We walked around the park while Courtney slept in her stroller. After she woke up we went and had her meet the characters and take pictures (Mickey, Pluto, Minnie, Chip & Dale and Goofy) I'll post the pictures when we get home. She had a blast, especially with Goofy and Pluto. Those seem to be her favorites. We went on the Seas ride (which has Nemo) and Courtney loved it as much as we did. We wondered thru all the countries and ended up in Norway for dinner. Had an interesting sandwhich and kept going thru the rest of the park. We collapsed on a bench at 7:30pm and since I forgot our jackets, I went and bought Courtney and I a sweatshirt. We sat on the bench and didn't move until 9pm when the fireworks, if it wasn't for the fireworks we would have probably gone back to the timeshare. The fireworks were worth staying for and an absolutely amazing display! We drug our feets to the car and grabbed some aloe vera on the way home as Chris and I are sunburned. Chris used 50+ sunscreen and I drenched Courtney with the same sunscreen but managed to not use any myself. I am as red as a lobster. Hopefully it will turn to a tan tomorrow (like it usually does) or it will be a long flight home tomorrow. I can't believe we leave for home tomorrow. We will all be so sad to leave Orlando. :)

Cold Front in Florida

A cold front moved in today and it was gray and yucky. The temp dropped from 83 degrees yesterday to 79 degrees today. That is a cold front???

Courtney and Chris are napping (yes, Chris LOVES to nap) and I am checking email. After they wake up we are going to do a boat ride on the lake at the resort. You can rent a swan or a yellow duck and pedal your way around the lake. Courtney will love it.

They have a sign next to the lake that says "Don't feed the alligators!" with a bite taken out of the sign. Yesterday I took Courtney's picture in front of it and I read it to her. She immediately started looking for the alligators in the water and asked "where are the croc-diles?" Too funny.

Florida Vacation

We are currently on our Florida vacation and having a blast. We went to the Pirate and Princess Party at the Magic Kingdom on Valentine's Day and then spent a full day at the Magic Kingdom on Friday. Saturday night we had dinner with Cinderella and Prince Charming, as well as Cinderella's stepmother and stepsisters. As soon as Courtney spotted Cinderella she started yelling "Look mommy! Look! It's Cinderella!", it was really cute. Today (Sunday) we had a relaxing day at the beach. We went to Clearwater Beach, Florida about two hours west of Orlando. Courtney told us the water tasted like crackers and the water goes "up and down, up and down" She had a blast and slept all the way back to the timeshare. We'll post pictures when we get back! :)
